This week I’ll be traveling to Rio - Sao Paulo - Brazillia & Belo Horizonte. I can’t wait!
But I do have a favor from my Brazilian fans and from visitors of Brazil: It would be great to know where I can spot get fashion/shoe fashion and that doesn’t necessarily mean high fashion…I need to know where to go for shoes, local designers, food and really whatever you love to share. I’ll primarily be going to check out architecture but I need your help to find the best of the best and not necessarily what is in lonely planet.
so lemme know!
Maybe you’re not ready. Maybe it’s not the right time. Maybe Maybe Maybe….
There’s no reason for maybe just like there’s no such thing as closure.
I’m so ready, let’s do this universe!
If your in the LA area I recommend you to check out LACMA's exhibition of Elizabeth in Iran. A collection of photos from her first trip to Iran in 1979 with photographer Firooz Zahedi.
Okay, Okay, I know, I know…like most people I say nay to socks and sandals but I wouldn’t have put Houman on this site if I didn’t see something interesting. The rule here is that this guy has style and knows how to bring different pieces together and get away with things because it looks good as a whole. If you look closely there’s a lot you can learn about giving yourself a longer and leaner silhouette and get provoke a double take with layers of texture!
I only saw their backs and I was quick enough to get a blurry photo….but I think I like it more that way.
It’s mandatory to be wearing new shoes so go get yourself a new pair…
Happy Persian New Year everyone! + thanks for all the well wishes
Super lucky me got a chance to visit New York while I was visiting Toronto, and I have to say the city was very good to me, once the St.Patrick’s day parade was over that is! The weather was amazing and you could tell people were really done with winter. No need to figure out transition ware when warmth was a good enough excuse for shorts and skirts.
While taking in the sun in the meatpacking district I bumped into Mayia Alleaume the creator of organic cosmetic line SENTARA SKINCARE. Check out this line of skin-care from Paris - I’m really digging the packaging.
Her boots are Mexicana’s……
In a week I’ll be home in Toronto ready to take some snaps then off to NY for a short while. Let’s see what I can find while roaming the streets!
A fair warning to you all that this post doesn’t have much to do with shoes, but then again I occasionally post things that are on my mind whatever the topic. With that being said I’ve been enabling my insomnia with some amazing Dick Cavett clips on You Tube. I never knew who Dick Cavett was before I started searching for interviews with John Lennon specifically the later years, but what I soon discovered was a trail of some really entertaining + intriguing conversations. I suppose it’s mostly because I’ve only ever listened to the music of some of these great artist and never taken the time to hear them speak. Now some of the questions are not so complicated - honest but not super complicated but I was so impressed by how articulate these rock “idols” were. What happened? How did we get to a point where we find enough gratification by these poor entertainers? I say entertainer because I don’t think most “stars” today should be titled as musicians.
I could go on about this topic but I encourage you to watch some of these interviews if you haven’t already. It’s only proof that in general humans were not always so stupid, and we do have or had the ability to string more than a couple of words together even when under the influence ie. Janis Joplin.
…and a word about the fashion I think I’m a bit inspired and will put together a post on some of my favorite pieces influenced by the 70’s that are all over the place now.
** I also recommend the Bowie, Zappa and Orson Wells interview
Naomi in her leather flats.
What an interesting shape no? I suppose it’s the proposition those alike to ballerina slippers that makes this form work. I’m not one for square silhouette shoe but there’s definitely something here.
