Apparently, Rem D Koolhass’ (not to be confused with architect Rem Koolhaus of OMA; even though they both are architects by trade…Odd!) love of shoes came from a broken heart. Trying to win his girl back he designed the infamous Möbius shoe. Sadly the love affair didn’t work out but a multi million-dollar shoe company did. In collaboration with Galahad (seventh generation shoe-maker), the two created United Nude.
Graphically driven designs with the geometrical performance in mind, I mean how much more architectural can you get? Even their website reads like a contemporary office furniture site; architecturally formed shoes with finishes galore!
I just hope these guys don’t forget their designing for ladies and not herman miller chairs.
There are some styles that come and go and some that should really go and never come back but when they do some people use the tag line “blank is sooo in!” Blank can be replaced by acid wash, animal print, shoulder pads etc etc.
So I have to say one of the reasons why I like wedges is because I see them as heels with comfort but I can easily be mistaken.
Here are my two predicaments; A. I’m not a huge fan of animal print B. I’m always weary of the “wedge” which = C…ampbell’s snake bootie.
