Last weekend I checked out the MMK’s Not in Fashion exhibit which was clearly over shadowed by a juxtaposed exhibit that was a bit over saturated with nudity. Which I don’t have a problem with, but for once I’d like to find myself at a contemporary museum where the human body is not exploited then maybe just maybe art will be provoking again. 

So it was obvious that the photo below struck me the most, yes because of its nostalgic allure and they appear to be fully clothed but also because the MMK has some sneaky curators who know how to emphasize a photo by blowing it up. Then wait for you to turn the corner and ta da! —Let us impress you with our black and white photo but BIGGER than the other b/w photos you’ve already seen. Sometimes its not the product that impresses me the most but the thought behind the pitch.

Nevertheless, like you I instantly thought of the early 90’s, then Nirvana then my tween self being taught how to head-bang by my close family friend at age 12…ya I was the coolest. I got to thinking if any of those people knew each other in the photo and if they do, do they still talk and if so, do they know they’re in an exhibit in Frankfurt, Germany? Would they still pick up the phone and call each other? Or did they have a falling out? But all whilst knowing how beautiful the moment was. 

We might not be able to relive or retake that photo but lets have a Coffee and Cigarette’s moment and talk about the good old days. Those days that we can only remember with good thoughts and anything that came after could go to hell. Or lets not because I hate nostalgia. I miss you, too bad we can’t talk like we used to.

ps. I’m trying to stick to my new motto : don’t pick up the phone if you know your not going to hear what you want to hear.

Sara is the perfect example of fall sweater weather. The textures the knits and of course all tied together with a belt. Just because it’s getting chilly outside doesn’t me you have to loose your silhouette. If it’s hard to find your self in the balloon like forms this season then find your waist line and high light it.

***also take a tip from mens wear: if your going to belt it - it’s nice to match the HUE TO YOUR SHOE!

I’m a sucker for reading into song lyrics. Getting lost in relating to the words to my own situations. Sometimes the best songs are the ones I indulge in and even restrain myself from listening to if it conjures up memories.

For me lyrics are like having expectations in life; at times you really shouldn’t to only avoid the let downs but what is life without it’s wants? Why should we deny ourselves that which makes circumstances sweeter? or even bitter sweet?

So let go of your inhibitions and let the cards fall where they may. The world needs more people that accept their compulsions. 

Whether it’s a pair of pumps that scream a bit too stripper or a song that lingers in your heart. I’m saying it’s okay to follow however you feel with honesty.

The Frankfurt market is probably the best way to scout out the cities more fashionable people while bargaining on an a beautiful vintage snake skin bag…ehhm yea I did a little damage this weekend. 

The market is also where I met Georgi Ambarzumjan and his girlfriend, who turned out to be actual interesting people living in Frankfurt! Who woulda thought! (don’t mind my north american attitude) Now your in luck too because Georgi has great blog more geared to mens wear and has even done time on Parsian street style blogs.
